Teen killed, 2 injured in shooting at Aurora fire station parking lot

A teenage girl was killed and two other victims were injured early Sunday morning in a shooting at a fire station near Aurora’s Hoffman Park, police said.

Officers responded just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the shooting near Aurora Fire Rescue Station 2, at 12600 East Hoffman Boulevard, according to a news release from the police department.

Firefighters were returning to the station from another call when they found a 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman who had been shot and immediately provided medical care, police said in the release.

Investigators found the crime scene in the fire station’s parking lot, according to the release.

Paramedics took both victims to the hospital, where the teenager later died from her injuries, police said. She will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

The woman is expected to survive, police said.

A third victim, another 15-year-old girl, was discovered several hours after the shooting, police said. That girl was grazed by a bullet and declined medical attention.

The events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, but police officials believe it was an isolated incident, the release stated.

As of Sunday afternoon, no suspects had been publicly identified or arrested.

Anyone with information about the shooting or who may have captured the incident on video is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
