UPDATED:

One person died and two others were injured in a four-car crash Sunday afternoon near Aurora’s Quincy Reservoir, according to the police department.

Aurora officers responded to a crash near the intersection of East Quincy Avenue and South Uravan Street just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the police department.

A Ford Mustang was driving westbound on Quincy when it crested the hill at a “high rate of speed,” police said in a Monday update.

An Infiniti SUV turning left from eastbound Quincy onto Uravan crossed the path of the speeding Mustang and was hit, police said.

The crash sent a man and a woman who were in the Mustang to the hospital with serious injuries and killed the woman driving the Infiniti SUV, who was the only person inside that car, police said. Both Mustang occupants are expected to survive.

Two other cars were damaged in Sunday’s crash, but no one else was injured.

Quincy was temporarily closed in both directions Sunday between Uravan Street and Pitkin Street for the crash cleanup and investigation, police said.

Investigators planned to reconstruct the crash to figure out what caused it, police said.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
